What’s This?

Vixen Labs is a one-fox software and hardware studio in Los Angeles. It started as a place to write up technical and art projects, grew into a brand for custom fabrication work, and is now Vixen Labs LLC — building apps like ParkPercent, Busy Light, and Arrivals Board™, publishing open-source home automation tools, and taking on smart-home consulting and custom builds. Hi, I’m your CEO, Mark Boszko.

Why “Vixen Labs”?

I really identify with foxes as an animal that echoes my personality — no, not my spirit animal. A female fox is a vixen, but it can also mean “a spirited or fierce woman,” which brings to mind the subjects of our Pele tiki mug and Seven of Nine prosthetics projects. Plus, I’ve recently found myself accidentally starting to collect foxes, and they are super cute. I mean seriously — have you seen these baby fennec foxes? Just ridiculous. We originally owned the domain vixenlabs.com but I accidentally let the domain expire, and now some domain squatter wants $9,995 to give it back, so screw that — and thus vixenlabs.info was born.
