This site is built to know as little about you as possible.
Analytics
We run a self-hosted copy of Umami, a cookieless analytics tool. It counts page views and referrers in aggregate, sets no cookies, stores no personal profiles, and never shares data with anyone — the data lives on our own server.
Cookies
The site sets no tracking cookies. If you flip the dark-mode switch, that preference is stored in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent to us. If you comment, WordPress may store your name and email in a cookie on your browser purely so you don’t have to retype them.
Comments
If you comment, the name, email, and text you submit are stored in our WordPress database. Your email is never displayed or shared. We don’t use Gravatar, so your email is never sent to a third party to fetch an avatar. Comments from the fediverse arrive with whatever public profile information your instance publishes.
Contact form
Submissions are emailed to us and stored in our own database (Fluent Forms) so we don’t lose your message. No third-party form service is involved.
Third parties
Pages on this site load no third-party resources — no Google Fonts, no ad networks, no social-media pixels. Videos are click-to-play: nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and then it loads from YouTube’s cookie-reduced player. A small number of older posts contain embedded social-media posts that load from those services; we’re weeding them out.
Server logs
Our web host keeps standard access logs (IP address, URL, timestamp) for a short period for security and debugging, as virtually every website does.
